Update: June 2, 2020

With the recent events that have unfolded in the past weeks, we are even more compelled to speak out against injustice and inequality. For far too long, there has been senseless violence against people of color. Every person who has been unfairly or racially targeted, arrested, injured, and/or murdered deserves justice. Oppression, intolerance, racism, and white supremacy need to be eradicated indefinitely! Now is the time for a change.

In solidarity, we want to take action immediately in order to prevent the senseless loss of even one more life. The Martha’s Vineyard Diversity Coalition supports the NAACP in calling on the United Nations to step up and classify the mistreatment of Black people in the U.S. by the police as human rights violations. We also support the aggressive calling out of the U.S. government in the process, and in the use of sanctions, if deemed necessary.

For other ways to help, please sign petitions, call on legislators, and find ways to donate funds.
